Shower door - how to hinge

We are finalizing our bathroom reno and having some internal conflict on the shower door. We didn't want a sliding door or header. Initially, we planned to have a flat panel on the side opposite our shower controls, with the door hinging off that panel for a few reasons (intuitive entry from bedroom, access to our robe/towel hook from inside the shower), however our installer advised against it due to the opening width (our shower is 58" wide and 33" deep to where the door would sit).

He advised hinging from the wall closest to the bedroom, which I initially was not a fan of. The entry is a bit more awkward (you have to walk past the doorway to open it) -- though it is easier to get around the tub with the door open in this configuration. I was also hung up on the towel access, but I'm thinking that could be remedied by hanging over the shower door or on the outer door handle (since it is a ladder style). These seem less of dealbreakers after walking through what it might be like to use the shower.

The last concern is with the handle being toward the center of the shower, rather than close to the edge. We don't have a super deep shower so I'm not sure if this would cut into precious elbow room. Was hoping for some expert opinions.
