It isn't a problem unless we get a serious cold snap. Nothing coming up now will have trouble with a mere freeze. Most hardy plants don't even in full leaf. The trouble starts below 25F. Our last date for that kind of temperature is May 1st. Since our last frost date is June 1st, if yours is 2 weeks earlier, you may be in the clear for damaging cold already.

Do not make the mistake of thinking all plants are tender annuals like tomatoes or impatiens. You'll end up doing a lot more damage protecting them than the cold is ever going to do.

Maybe 10 years ago, we had a cold snap in early May where the low was about 23F. My neighbor's Bloodgood lost its leaves, and I think I had friends with real strawberry problems, but I had almost no damage at the time. However, all summer I'd find the occasional strange growth like fasciation, and panic until I remember it was probably connected with that night.
