Hi, what is used for the "ledge" between the upper and lower panel mouldings? It looks like crown moulding but I can't tell. Thanks.

It's a 5/4" traditional sill (stool) with 1-5/8" bed molding underneath.

Is the paint rolled or sprayed on? Also if there is very little natural light in the room, which sheen would you use to paint the paneling?

Hi! Thanks so much for your interest in our work! This paneling is brushed. We generally have our work sprayed. NEVER roll woodwork. I like a satin finish on most woodwork.

Why should you never roll woodwork?

The sleeve leaves an 'orange peel' texture on the wood. It's a shortcut that some painters use to save time, but it's an inferior technique that yields a substandard result. Woodwork is traditionally hand brushed, but I prefer the furniture quality finish to spraying -- provided the prep work has been done properly and the wood is glass-smoothe.
