We found Akke Woodworks on Houzz and couldn’t be happier. Initially, we started working with them for paneling, but quickly expanded the scope to make full use of their amazing work. Axel doesn’t miss a single detail and always thinks 10 steps ahead. He has an artistic and precise eye for design. In addition, his team is a pleasure. They are all smart, hardworking, efficient, and never without a smile. Axel can work with your designs or create his own which was extremely helpful. He had to convince me on making some changes and I am so glad he did. Everything he suggested was a great improvement. He makes suggestions with budget in mind as well. We had such a great experience that my husband kept coming up with new projects for them! We are very pleased with the results and highly recommend Akke Woodworks.

My wife and I hired Akke Woodworks back in 2010 when we remodeled our home. We were so thrilled with their work and have recommended them countless times. This past September, we opened a new restaurant. Being that it's a business and every dollar counts, we were working on a strict budget. However, we also realize that 'Ambiance' is one of the Big 3 for restaurant success. That's why we decided to 'splurge' a little and hire Akke Woodworks. It's a decision we are so happy we made. Once again, Axel and his team were nothing short of amazing! As was our experience the first time, we feel as if we got a 2-for-1 deal by getting both woodworkers and interior designers. Not to mention that they completed the project ahead of schedule and within our budget -- no hidden extras! Not only did Axel guide us through the design process, but he advised us as to how to best distribute our budget; in other words, how to get the best bang for our buck. They were full of great ideas, too. When my wife was having a hard time finding picture frames, Axel offered to make them out of the cut-offs of the molding we were using, as well as different styles that they had in their truck (at no additional material charge!) He also had a great understanding of the practical needs we had; we were short on storage. The team designed and built open shelving cabinets, where we store our wine collection, integrated into a doorway that he suggested should be reduced to create more wall space and allowing enough room for an additional table; a perfect combination of form and function! They also solved our noise issue by designing and installing sound-absorbing ceiling panels that are positioned to look very geometric and stylized. I could go on and on, but I'll leave it at this: Akke Woodworks is a Five Star company in every sense of the phrase!

We had a set of living room built-ins and a mudroom bench with cubbies designed and built by Akke. Axel (owner) was very responsive and came up with excellent designs from our "inspiration" photos. He and his team started our project on time, put in a full day every day, left our home spotless inside and out every night. Both pieces are excellent, we are very pleased. They even took care of several other minor "honey-do" tasks while on site. Despite the extras, our project came in on budget. Great experience!

We build luxury homes on Long Island in NY. and Akke Woodworks has provided the interior trim carpentry work on many of our projects. Besides being the best finish carpentry company I have worked with, they are a pleasure to have on our job sites. They are skilled, clean, careful, respectful and the most productive finish carpentry crew I've ever seen. It's not possible for them to produce less than the highest level of workmanship. It isn't that they are managed strictly by some fanatical boss...it's that everyone of this six man crew is highly skilled and, remarkably, each individual has a work ethic that won't allow them to do something that is half right. This is is not the least expensive finish carpentry crew. If you are looking for a bargain rate and mediocre work look elsewhere but if you want flawless work for the best value, hire them at their hourly rate and step back and watch them work.

Axel and his crew from AKKE Woodworks are artists. They created beautiful detail with trim, moldings and the use of shiplap in our new home. The wood work throughout not only creates character but adds warmth and a feeling of authenticity and charm to the newly constructed home. The first thing a visitor comments on is the lovely moldings. Axel is a pleasure to work with and he and his guys are neat and professional. We hired Akke Woodworks to improve an existing family room and create a new multipurpose space in our basement. In the spirit of full disclosure – I’ve known Axel for over 30 years. He is an experienced and creative craftsman with an unprecedented sense of design. These are the traits Akke Woodworks has become synonymous with and are expressed through his profile of work. What exceeded my expectations was the enthusiasm and workmanship his team brought to the job each and every day. They are an extremely talented group of professionals that take a tremendous amount of pride in their craft. Each day the Akke team was on time, ready to work and left the house in perfect condition. It goes without saying that we’d use them again.

Akke Woodworks did a fabulous job for us on both projects that they worked. First was a "rescue" from a contractor who was incapable of finishing a complete, huge house renovation. Second was a new building project for additional space that was part of the original renovation. In both cases, they were terrific: very talented experienced craftsmen, very clean at the site, punctual and worked efficiently, courteous, creative, helpful, honest. The list could go on, they were THAT good! I would highly recommend them and would certainly use them again if I ever had the need.

We recently hIred Akke Woodworks to design an entry way for the foyer in our home. The finished product blew away our expectations. They accomplished more in just one day than most contractors could accomplish in a week. The level of detail on the custom columns and paneling on the knee-walls was nothing short of amazing. Axel and his team were extremely easy to work with and highly efficient. We will definitely use Akke Woodworks again.

I hired axel to build library bookshelves with a hidden door in the middle. So one of the bookcase actually opens up as a door to my kitchen. He took up the challenge and came up with such innovative ways to make it work for us. Not only his price is competitive, his carpentry work was just outstanding. His attention to detail and meticulousness was beyond expectation. He designed and built it, all in about a week time. My husband and I are picky. There's not one thing with his work that we could pick on. We could only admire this beautiful bookshelf that he and his crew built for us. It transformed the room! We were so happy with Axel's shelf work that we ended up hiring him to do our foyer wall covering as well. I would highly, highly recommend him if you are looking for a true craftsman. We hired Akke Woodworks to build stairs from the backdoor to our patio. Axel and his team did a fabulous job. Not only is our back yard much more accessible, but the stairs look beautiful and make a big difference to the yard’s overall look and feel. What we were most impressed with was the incredible attention to detail. Beyond that, working with Axel was very easy; he guided and educated us to ensure we were comfortable with the project before we started. His team was extremely professional, thorough, and was constantly working to clean up after themselves. We plan on using Akke Woodwork again and highly recommend them.
