My husband don't like me dig more holes. that's why I have a lot of pots...

Mary, no one could call your potted area a ghetto, it's so neat and tidy. My husband isn't thrilled about new holes, either, because he's the one who digs them. I'm going to see if I can successfully grow some in pots. I tried one last year and so far, so good. Can you share what you use and your feeding schedule? I assume yours can stay outdoors for winter. Please show us again when they're in bloom. It must be spectacular.

Severe...I agree...I look at roses people grow here in smaller pots...and I'm like ??? why won't they grow like that for me. LOL

Well...I use the Alaskan Fish Fertilizer. But not the other ones. Thanks for the pictures...makes it much easier. :)

I always read “the bigger, the better,” and I also remember someone here saying “don’t bother with anything under 18” diameter.“

Thats a bit of a problem because large containers are expensive.

Mary, do you use all 4 or rotate which ones you use?

I have been using fish emulsion, banana peel tea and alpha tea.

I am going to add super thrive and Miracle Grow this year.

I had 3 pots with miniature roses that I took off of the deck to toss because they were so pitiful. A couple of weeks earlier I had tried some banana peel tea in all of my pots and I noticed new growth in those 3 pots that were waiting for the dumpster.

This spring they all 3 look like completly different roses, so lush and healthy

So that tells me with the right fertalizer you can really make a huge difference.

The fact yhat you have such healthy roses in pots tells me that your plants are very healthy.

Mary, thank you for taking the time to photograph the products you use. They shouldn't be hard to find. I'm only going to grow a few in pots because it will be an experiment, and they have to be taken to the barn or garage for winter. I grew one potted rose last year and it gave me courage to try more. I used Osmocote Plus, but I didn't have anything to compare it with. This year I'll use that again on some and try your suggestions on others and see what works best. For sure I'm digging up my pitiful little Lavender Pinocchio and putting him in a pot. He couldn't get any worse.
