its what happens to frances williams.. and i THINK its called sun scald ... i used to think it was temp related ...

anyone want to clarify this for both of us ...

Looks more like wind burn, which also affects Frances Williams. Sun burn would likely have caused more widespread damage.

When my Frances Williams was in a bit more sun, the edges of the leaves would burn and turn brown. Now it's under an oak tree that needs to have its branches trimmed and I don't have the same issue But you are in zone 8 so you have different conditions. Is this plant in direct sun or does it just get direct sun for a few hours a day?

I just got it from a friend. I'm glad it's not diseased.

I’m confused.....that hosta looks like Sum & Substance, and why is it indoors? Could that have something to do with it?

"just got it from a friend" so presumably it's a small division from a larger plant, and not yet planted in the garden. Not a bad thing to confirm that it's a healthy plant before putting it in the ground.

Dhaven, you are exactly right. I didnt want to put it with my others. I'm going to put my potted hosta in garden bed. Djacob, it's just a piece I was given. I was potting it up inside.

It’s wise to pot it and see what happens once you put it outdoors.

Ok. I'll just pot it but not near the others. One of my potted was eated over the winter. One of my favorites, so I'm moving them to my front yard in a bed around a tree.

One side is shade and the other is full sun. I'm planting Marigolds in the to help keep away deer.
