We have had the Samsung front loader for nine years. It's never broken, but I will not get a front loader again. Clothes do not get super clean. I don't know how many times I've rewashed a load. All my friends recommend Speed Queen machines.

Whirlpool, I have both washer and dryer front load for over 5 years and no issues.

Consumer reports recommends Samsung. I can't comment on personal experience but I may get them in my next house. My whirlpool set is fine.

I had the Whirlpool duet for 7 years. The next ones I chose come after extensive review comparison from a variety of websites, was Samsung. I've had them for 4-years. Great so far. I highly recommend doing the work if comparing products among all the reviews from home depot, the brand, Lowe's, and Best Buy. I'm in data science so I have a high tolerance for numbers, trends etc.

No experience with Whirlpool but we had a lot of trouble with our Samsung electric dryer within a few years after buying it, which was about 9 years ago now. Never had any problems with the washer, and when we moved we had to get the gas dryer and never had problems with it, but I do recall the repairman saying he saw lots of issues with the Samsung appliances, so I'll probably choose something else next time.

I have experience with both brands. My Samsung washer was dead on arrival, which Home Depot replaced immediately, but the dryer developed a problem 9 months later (still under warranty) and Samsung was an absolute nightmare to deal with. Took 6 visits and taking it apart 5 times and countless hours on the phone (3 months) for them to finally deem it a lemon and reimburse because they couldn't fix it. I had a Whirlpool set for 4 years (stayed with the house I sold) and never had a problem. Go with Whirlpool.

Samsung dryers were/are known for problems with the drums cracking. I don't know if they've improved on it. Servicers have continually claimed trouble getting Samsung parts. I repaired & refurbed a set 5 years ago that was given to my sister. They were right at 5 years old at the time (10 yo now). The previous users had destroyed the washer with bad habits. The drum spider cracked during spin, tore a gash in the front half of the outer tub. I didn't have any trouble finding parts at the time. Nothing wrong with the dryer at the time. It blew an overheat thermal fuse a couple years ago, which I repaired.

This is how I choose my appliances. I create a spreadsheet with columns that correspond to the rated areas of the appliance. I go to Lowe's, Home Depot, Best Buy, other store brands and the brand website itself. I record all the ratings in columns (adjust for different types of rating categories). Then I average them choosing those that rise above the average. I do that until I have five. Then I read the reviews for common trends. It's how I choose all my appliances- no problems yet. Alas some people are adverse to numbers, tables, and details.

Why do I do this? Well unless you pay for Consumer Reports (which you should vs polling a site that lacks rating parameters) there's no way to really determine superiority from a few responses.

I've had both a Whirlpool and currently have a Samsung. Both are awesome and neither have provided trouble. How useful of feedback is that? Exactly!
