Maybe not, but I think this was one of the vintage houseplans we shared with our architects at the start of the design phase.

I'm lovin' it! Especially that porch off the kitchen. I can see me sitting there in a rocker shelling peas for supper or to freeze. Oh, wait! I'd have to put a deep freeze in that storage room for sure. I suppose there'd have to be a well where one could fill a #2 tub and leave it in the sun all day to have a warm bath on the porch or even in the yard by the well. In winter the tub would need to be by the stove (where would that be?) so a kettle full of hot water could replenish the tub full of cold water after each family member had their bath. No changing all the water between bathers! Anyone know how far the "outhouse" has to be from the home to keep the pollution and smells away? Actually I love small spaces, so I wouldn't have much trouble building that today. I would just turn that small bedroom by the stairs into a bath, and put a powder room under the stairs on the main floor, turning the bedroom there into my office. HGTV would have none of it, I'm sure!

And probably some fairly sizable families were raised in these homes.

There aren't any bathrooms LOL, and closets weren't a thing (mostly, they used wardrobes).

They didn't have refrigerators, but there's no larder, unless the pantry qualifies.

People were shorter and smaller, so everything is petite.
