We moved to a small town 15 years ago and now when I want fabric it's 30 miles south to a Walmart or 45 miles north to a very small Joanns or 100 miles south to a large city with a large Joanns. I worked at Joanns years ago and stocked up on a lot of sewing supplies knowing I would not be able to get them readily. But when we moved up here there were 2 quilting stores not too far away, but they have closed quite a while ago.

What I have done is I had to get rid of a lot of my fabric, no room to store, I still struggle! And only buy when I know I will use it. I also have picked a small project that I make over and over. I still love to sew, and these make it easy for me to do so.

I also made my DDIL a cover for the sewing machine I made her. Sure I miss big sewing projects, I used to do community theatre costuming, but there are other things out there to make, just smaller.

I will post a pic of my project that I enjoy making and is easy and quick. I make them and give them away, I have 51 made up and am taking to one of my DR. appts to give to the nursed there. If you want private message me thru my home page and tell me what color you want and give me your address and I will send you one with instructions.

Kathy, thank you for your generous offer, but I am paring down any but the essentials. I am deep, deep downsizing. Nothing comes in to my house to be kept unless it is an upgrade or replacement for something else.

I understand how you enjoy putting together this one thing and giving it away.

I used to have a room chock full of stuff and multiple machines and a large cutting/ironing table.

I used to have a sewing workroom and I am still getting rid of some of my supplies.

Not having access to a fabric store is a real nail in the coffin of home sewing.

Where we are going used to have at least two fabric stores. If is was still operating, Hancocks would be just a short walk. But, of course that has been gone for a long time.

The only Joanns closed there due to a some squabble about real estate a couple of years ago.

Leaving nothing for miles and miles. And what is left miles and miles away is only a Joanns.

It really makes it easy to give up the sewing mojo when all the stores have closed.

I feel like I did not desert the merchants. They deserted me, one who sews.

CT, those are click bags, some people call them snap bags. I do a give away every so often on the Kitchen Table. Next one in early May.
