I think it is a good idea to eliminate the driveway and relay a broad walkway directly from the front door to the street. Can you reuse the driveway slabs?

The driveway should go. If you need a driveway on this side of your house, maybe add a half circular drive which would allow for guests to park and enter through the front door. You’d need a walkway from that drive to the front, but you could add some beds in front of the new driveway.

The did one of these on Home Town- they built large planter boxes and created a little patio/ walkway behind them so the driveway had a logical stopping point away from the house.

@Rachel I like your idea. I like the idea of having an extra driveway to utilize. This will be a rental home after I've done a few repairs and I think people always appreciate the extra driveway space. Is this the home you are talking about?

I like the idea of the large platers but what about moving them halfway up the driveway and them putting a sitting area behind them? You could also landscape along the edge of it to somewhat hide it.

@richard also a good idea. maybe pouring a slightly larger front patio to allow some sitting outside behind the planters

I was also thinking of raised bed vegetable gardens in very large planters(they would have to be deep because of the concrete) but it may not look right, could be a bit messy but if done right it could be fun. Rent yourself a jack hammer and take it out if you are feeling ambitious!

Why is there a truck parked on the grass to the left of the driveway to nowhere and why does the house next door look like it is two feet away from yours? Whatever is going on next door is going to affect what you can do with this space.

Build a simple pergola over part of it and add a couple planter boxes to divide the driveway. Use it as a little patio.

If previous were inclined to park next to driveway to nowhere then expanding said driveway into where the truck was instead of removing any of it would accommodate likelihood of parking there also happening in future.

So if the current driver does not see the need to park there, however the previous owner did, why would the current owner expand an eye sore?

The vehicle was an inoperable vehicle that sat in the yard for storage, so it was out of the way of the usable driveway. The driveway would only be expanded so much as to match the driveway entrance width, and on the right side to have a larger front walk way/patio. The left side would be landscaped or cleaned up

I feel better knowing more about the layout.

Demo the narrow section all the way to the house along with the tiny walk to the front steps. Keep the wide section of the drive open to the street. Put in a gravel parking space and a new walk to the front steps.
