We bought a house in 2018, two months after we moved in the shower starting leaking. We started using the other bathroom, as we didn’t have money for the renovations, as new homeowners. 6 months later the bathroom starts leaking. Now with a little more breathing room and no choice - We start the search, ask online for recommendations, interview contractors and find a licensed, bonded and insured company who did similar work to what we wanted. OG shower was tiled with a curb and in 50s style that I loved, was sad to see it go but alas it had its day. So our only real option was to do sane or opt for plastic base. Husband works form home (pre pandemic) he was ahead of all of us on that. So, he documented everything, we have photos! Inspectors came, signed off - shower held water for 48 hrs. Was hot mopped. Shower is then finished with all the accoutrements, looks great, everyone is happy. A few weeks pass and I notice that the adjoining wall is showing water issues paint not curing. Call contractor back out and they cut into the wall, tell us that the door installer did not use silicone when screwing in and there is a drip leak, I questioned them but they showed us and Repaired it, sealed up wall. No more paint issue, Back to being happy. About a year later, the honed Carrara tile is yellowing outside shower, ask for cleaning advice on here and someone says it must be a leak. I think it can’t be in that area, but call contractor back out, they say not a leak, shower door is dripping on that area, cause discolouration. As it is only happening there, I have to agree. We do shower pan test ourselves. It holds water in bottom no issues. Yesterday, I look at the floor again, and something in my gut tells me it’s not the shower door, remembering advice of nice Houzz poster. We fill all the way to the top of the curb and water pours out. Call contractor, no longer in California, resends old COI and texts “Good Luck ☘️” no joke. Help!!! is the curb reparable, if we take off the tile and redo or do we have to demo the entire shower. Yours literally in tears!!
