what kind of cherry.. fruit production???

im just above toledo in MI .. late frost or freeze.. or a bad winter can cause severe flower damage.. before they even appear ...

are you basically surrounded by the millions of acres of OH farms.. if so.. your soil is probably not an issue as to fertility ...

how did you plant them .... how do you water .... and how about a couple pix ...

spring flower trees rarely bloom for more than a week ... were you hit with last weeks freeze???

Yoshino cherry in central Ohio - we did get the freeze a few weeks back but we haven’t had blooms any of the 4 years. We only water if there is drought. There isn’t a ton of farmland around us, but the spot where the trees are did have basement excavation clay mixed into surface during construction. Other yoshinos I’ve seen in the area have all had significantly more blooms

The ten foot Prunus sargentii I planted bloomed sporadically for the first five or six years before I saw full bloom so you need to be patient. Cut a wider grass free ring around yours and wait. Did you plant yours with the root flare showing?

central OH doesnt narrow it down much .. do you mean east to west.. or north to south.. or yes.. lol ...

Central Ohio. means in the center/middle of the state, not east, west, north or south.

In addition to grass being too close tree shown looks to be planted too deep

Clear the grass out from around the base of that tree in at least a four foot diameter.

Make certain that the root flare is visible at grade.

Mulch around the tree but not up against the trunk.

Water deeply when rain doesn't do it for you.
