Ash and Hackberry Pruning in June

Hi everyone, new here to forum. We have a couple of Ash and Hackberry trees that we requested pruning service from a local tree service company Denver. Due to high demand (as I was informed), they had to schedule the pruning to take place first week in June. I know very little about trees but have done some researching to understand that there are certain times of the year to prune trees and and general recommendation is fall into late winter/early spring. Should I be concerned that the trees are being pruned in June? Should I push this off until later in the fall? I would like some advice as this is new territory for me and not because I don't trust this specific company, I am always looking for second opinion when my research points to something different than what I am being told. I may be overreacting but I would rather be certain since it's not urgent to get them prune for this summer. I know Denver has a later spring so it may be okay...just not sure.

if you could only trim trees at certain moments in time.. most of the services woulld be out of business ... so i wouldnt be too concerned about timing in general ...

in my MI.. tehre is a beetle that can attack oak .. so you want to do it when the sap isnt flowing ... so that is what you ask about these two trees .. and im not aware of such....

with ash.. there is emerald ash borer ... is that a problem in your area?? .. a call to your local extension office might get you info on that ... or this:

then the next issue might be if you might not be better off just divesting in the ash completely ... you dont mention what kind of ash .. so i cant go any further ...

next might be on a flowering tree .. whether you want to miss some flower show ... and that isnt an issue with these two ...

last.. it might be nice to post us some pix in a reply.. so we can opine whether its all an issue ... and give us some pix of the ash bark.. and we might find out if we can see any eab holes ...

thats the issues that strike me right off .. maybe more will come to me ...

oh.. who is providing the service.. a well known provider.. or 2 guys with a chainsaw and a pickup truck????

It's a legitimate tree service company, licensed arborists so they aren't two hacks with chainsaws :). I'm not sure about the bug issues but the trees look fairly healthy and I like clean looking trees so some trimming was requested. We purchased the home last year in the fall and forgot to mention these are all in the front.

According to the Virginia cooperative extension publications, Ash (Fraxinus) generally doesn't have a preferred time for pruning and Hackberrry (Celtis) shows not to prune in August and September.

With the footnote below:

Exception: Timing varies across USDA climate zones - zones within Virginia range
from 8a in the Virginia Beach area to 5b along the West Virginia border.

Thanks for all the advice....sounds like I should be okay. I"ll take some before and after photos if I can remember to do that and give you all an update.
