How and how often did you water them when planted? And did you make sure the rootball was hydrated?

Firstly, thanks for your response.

We were watering every other day for the first 5 weeks. Just with the hose on the sprinkler setting for about 5 mins per tree.

We did not hydrate the root ball. We followed the planting instructions that came with the trees. We dug the hole 3x the width of the root ball, placed the root ball into the hole, just slightly higher than ground level to allow for run off, and then back filled with the soil, trying to remove air pockets as we went.

I should also add that we fertilised with evergreen fertiliser sticks about 5 weeks after planting (in April). We put the sticks about 5 feet from the trunk.

They have been planted for 10-11 weeks now and this has begun in the last 2 weeks.

Thanks for the reply... so the ‘experts’ at fast growing trees said I was overwatering, causing the trees to have yellow tips (much different than the picture I provided). I must add, the sprinkler setting is more of a soaker type, not an actual sprinkler.

I will water as you described above and see if there is any improvement

Check the rootball for moisture and water if dry.

i dont care what the EXPERTS at the place said.. the correct answer was that they should send you new trees .. period ...

i suspect something happened to them before they shipped them ... trees grow in tree time .. counted in decades ... and you usually dont SEE stuff inside 5 weeks ...

winter damage sometimes doesnt appear until late spring ... but the problem happened in winter ... and i dont know where they came from compared to where you are ...

a biz concerned about their own reputation shouldnt make you accept this result .. lets see if they stand up ...
