Time to clean up and clear out all the mess, then start planning. Anything you try to grow new to a black fence is going to have heat damage in the summer.

Yeah, clean up the clutter first. Wherever that outdoor heater is supposed to be while in use, move it there and keep it there. Decide on one kind of paver, or maybe two complementary ones- the few kinds of pavers mixed with astroturf is off putting.

Black is an interesting choice for an outdoor fence- why did you choose it?

I chose black for my fence because I think it looks nice perhaps with a few green plants ... with the different color pavers I was reading on pulling them out or perhaps staining them with a gray

Ok, where abouts do you live? You don't have to get really specific, but in general will help out.

I see that you have shades up. Does it get hot where you are? Keep in mind that the black fence will absorb more heat. Where does that outdoor heater usually live while it is in use?

What do you want to get out of the yard? I didn't see a grill, do you want to have one? Do you do a lot of sitting down and eating and such- want outdoor dining space? What ages are the kids- they need room to romp?

What kind of plants are you into? A bit of veg and herbs, maybe annual flowers or perennials? It looks like you got a bit of ground space between the brown fence and a section of pavers- You might be able to use it for growing, but it looks like most of the space would have to be containers for plants.

Crystal, if you give the information requested by people trying to help you, rather than starting multiple new threads on the same question, you’ll get a much better outcome.

A few ideas that may help

I might suggest considering a container garden. You can get some really beautiful and unique ceramic planters. I did this for my balcony and it’s been a very good learning experience. My advice based on the last few years:

Be prepared to water every single day in the summer. And consider drought tolerant plants that can survive if you need to miss a few days of watering for whatever reason.

Use the nursery plastic pots as liners inside the pretty ceramic pots. This makes it much easier to switch things out and replant when needed. Sometimes I have to cut the plastic one to make it fit and then plant in there.

Don’t buy tons of pretty small planters because everything will outgrow them quickly. I have a lot of empty small ones but I don’t have enough that will hold 3-7 gallon plants.

The biggest caution I think is avoiding more clutter. Make sure you get everything cleaned out and simplified to a fresh clean slate before adding any more stuff.
