Verdict's in; Smiling Sailor, one Cameo definitely dead

I dug around the last place the plants had sent up shoots, and the root mass was limp and dead. I guess root rot was the culprit. It remains whether Ripple Effect, Paisley Print, Rainbow's End and Dinner Mint are dead or just terribly delayed.

Ken, Steve hit it on the head. I am WAITING FOR A HOUSE to come up and the YARD that comes with it. I can't invent soil on my balcony, much as I'd like to! This is one very frustrated gardener! I scan Zillow etc. every day, several times a day, and nothing is listed where I want to buy.

might be time to get them out of the bags ... which i thought were all about the move.. not a permanent pot ...

in your zone .. there should not be a cold delay ... i suspect those not up.. arent coming up later ... but hope springs eternal ...

Would the bags fit in plastic growers pots? No replanting needed, but could reduce water losses and heaving.

Actually, UTOG, when I poke my finger down into the soil of the bags, they are surprisingly moist most times. And I don't have a problem with heaving. I water the plants every few days, more often if it's been hot.
