IMO an architect can design exactly what you want so why not go that route instead of a stock plan that costs money everytime you change anything. I can see many issues with that plan even at a first glance, IMO you can do better

You need the right lot, and the right plan for a walkout AND a pool. Way too many walkout basements disconnect the main living floor from the ground level to the extent that it really takes away from the usefulness of a pool or nice backyard. think about grilling out, getting stuff from the kitchen and entertaining by the pool. Now think about walking up the deck stairs every time you need to grad something from the house / kitchen, etc. (unless you want to replicate an entire kitchen / bar / bathroom space in the basement or outdoors and budget accordingly)

Perhaps you could do a sort of split-level, with the lower having a walkout. As a Midwesterner, you know that there are many styles of split-level. We had one with a lower-level walkout to a patio, and you stepped up from that cozy patio to the lawn and patio that were off the kitchen and dining rooms. I think we’d have been in that house longer if it had a sub-basement under the main living spaces, as some other split-levels around there had.

Do see if someone can design you one. In the plan you like, I see why you like it, but an architect can design you one where the kitchen view isn’t of the driveway, and the cars parked in it. I love my current front-facing kitchen, and while I can see who’s pulling into the driveway it doesn’t overlook the asphalt, but rather the front porch, and the landscape beyond that.

Stop thinking basement and start thinking two story.
