Open kitchen/dining with 3 cabinet colors ok?

Hello everyone,

We have an open kitchen/dining area and are very happy with the cabinet color selections in the kitchen. We are going with white cabinets and grey island. HOWEVER, I'm at a loss for what to do with the line of wall cabinets on the opposite end in dining room. Our designer friend suggested a different color - something with a wood tone so that it gives a "built-in" look and stands out separately from the kitchen. She made these renderings for me. Should the dining cabinets be grey to match the island? I know I don't want them white like the kitchen cabinets.

To be clear, the walls are all white, not grey as show in image. The hardwoods in the rendering closely match what we have.

And the narrow upper cabinet on the right tucked behind support beam is the family mail/home organizer cabinet. I am wondering if we should paint that narrow cabinet white and hope it blends into the white wall or if that would look silly with a white upper cabinet while the dining cabinets are brown or grey.

Thank you!

Mary
