Thank you Patricia Colwell Consulting. I wanted to buy a nice piece of art above the fireplace. Just wondering how big it should be and what colors might look nice up there. Also, I was wondering what I should get under the lighting place(what you see are temp).

I am looking but can’t find the right size

I would wrap a beautiful piece of wood around as a mantle (nothing good about that flat sheet rock atop the surround) and do matching wood shelving in the nook with a framed piece of art above the fireplace. Or fill it in.

I would leave the area above the fireplace bare, and place one large, oversized piece of colorful pottery or glass sculpture in the alcove.

Thanks. Could you tape off that 48 x 24? Then you can get a better visual. I saw other sizes but I can't find any others either. You will have 2" wall at top and bottom and 10" of wall space on each side. It might work. Maybe you could just lean it on the wall?
