Bathroom remodel help

last month

Hi! I've started picking out most things for my bathroom remodel but it's still not right... I used AI to create a mock up and the color is off but I've chosen Bedrosions Marine Aloe Green vertically stacked tile and then Area 51 white 24x24 floor tiles, new white bath tub, dark walnut vanity, delta champagne bronze fixtures..still flexible on the mirror and light and maybe that's my problem? I want it to pull light green, not mint or teal from the aloe green. Any advice to make this a pretty, warm and fun feel? It is a main bathroom when people come over but also needs to be family friendly to grow with us.

I also considered Bedrosions Celine sage for the shower tile, but with the variations worried it might be too dark? Or would this look better than Aloe?

What is that square tile sample you have on the vanity top?

your AI image doesn't show the variations in the actual tile you have... there will be more dark tones in the Sage IF that's what you want.

The Aloe looks more aqua/blue... IF you have no natural light and depending on the ceiling and wall paint color, the sage would be too dark for me.

You can push the Aloe more green, if you paint the ceiling and walls a white with a green undertone, like SW Reserved White or similar.

I like your mock-up very much. Not sure what yu don't like, or are you asking for mirror and light suggestions?

The small square tile is another sample of my floor tile. I have no windows or natural light, and we are adding a can light above the shower. Yes maybe a different light or mirror would be better?

Agree on the custom shower curtain - I get mine on Etsy, personal preference but I don’t love the curtain so close to the toilet so just have one wider panel stacked at the non toilet side

fwiw I have several friends with disappointing tile installs using these tiles so make sure you have an absolute pro to deal with the different shades etc (a 3rd gen tiler in our area hates working with these tiles bc he says the homeowner almost always hates where one darker tile ends up 😅)

Yes that's why I was afraid to go with the celine sage! I didn't like the brown ones. That's why I think the aloe is a safer choice :)

Regardless of color you have to have a tile installer worth their weight in gold when using this tile. Because of its wavy nature any lipping is exacerbated ten fold if not properly installed. Color has little to do with poor tile installation.

We are using this tile in two projects currently and you have to have an experiences and skilled tiler. There is no compromise with that.

The aloe is a beautiful color. Here it is in a current project. It is not as light and washed out once installed.

here it is in Misty Blue in project we are working on

IMO tile with a lot of variation tends to date much fasier . I do all 12 x24 porcelian tile on bathroom floor and shower walls to keep it simple , I do matching grout and if I want an accent tile I save the backsplash for that . Then if I want a change wall color, accessories easy to make the space have a differnt look.. If you must have a nicehe IMO it should not be an accent tile , shampoo does not need to be highlighted . I much prefer a nice caddy even a stand in the corner that can easily be cleaned . Niches in my experience are one of the areas often where leaks occur .As for lighting I think bathrooms are a space where LED 4000K bulbs are great I like pot lights and good bath bar type lighting and again something simple , same reason for unframed mirrors . If you are going with AI plan the bath bar is bad choice and no reason to introduce a black framed mirror at all.. I really dislike shower curtains but do like a nice hinged glass shower screen also for simple and keeping the space less cluttered.

Help! The tile guy put the niche in the corner of the wall instead of centered on the wall. I don't love this. Should I just not have a niche at all?

" Should I just not have a niche at all? "

Correct. Udse corner shelves. What is he using for waterproofing as I see none and Durock is not waterproof. Looks like drywall in the back of the niche as well so if you keep it thats needs to be addressed as well.

Most of your tile samples are too dark or too blue to match the color in your mockup. I would see if there are other tile options. https://seremodeling.com/how-to-design-a-luxury-bathroom

Have him move the niche. This is ridiculous! Did you tell him where to place the niche or did he just decide to stick it in a corner which is just about the worst place one could go. Keep the niche but move it. Corner shelves .....well who wants a corner shelf that isnt even the same color as the chosen tile? They will stick out like a sore thumb.
