White dove looks yellow! Help!

Just had our house painted BM White Dove and it looks very yellow! Anybody else have this problem? My painted uses Sherwin Williams paint and had it colour matched.

Thanks Lori, any suggestions on a SW colour that I could use that would look more white on my walls?

Make sure you don't like what you have. It could be serendipity.

The pictures are very pretty. It's a soft, buttercream and it looks really good with the floor. There are many who try to get the look you ended up with and just can't.

If he uses SW, my next step would be to test SW's version of PPG's Delicate White. It's literally less yellow; both in terms of hue family and colorfulness (Chroma). It's also a smidge lighter and brighter (LRV and Value respectively).

If it’s any consolation to you I think what you have looks quite lovely! Yes it is a warm white but it goes very well in your beautiful home. As there is nothing on your walls and no furniture yet you will be quite surprised how this will be tempered once you do.

Hey! i know this post is old but if it makes you feel any better, i had the original BM white dove painted all over my house recently and it looks the exact same. its yellow, and in some lights i see even a hint of green. it drives me nuts

I'll have to check, but WD has just a pinch of S2 (Dk. Gray) & is mostly Y3 (Yellow-Oxide).

Milana Emmanuel - did you have BM white dove color matched with Sherwin Williams paint? I wonder if this is a common problem. We are ending up with the same dilemma as our new home is painted and we are changing the color now to SW Alabaster.

No, i got the original BM white dove! Its ridiculously yellow but my husband will kill me if i ask to repaint as we paid a lot for this. i had to force myself to get used to it

As I mentioned earlier this winter, the "Official" BM WD formula is a little S2 (Dark Gray) & mostly Y3 (Yellow-Oxide). Y3 is sorta Butterscotch/Werther's caramel yellow.

Whenever you're matching, it's never as good as using the "Source" brand & colorants. Every companies colorants vary.

I am looking at my newly painted BM White Dove walls now and BOY do I wish I had read this post earlier. My walls are yellow. I think I may cry. Are there different light bulbs I could use that may help with the yellow?

Yes, light bulbs may make a difference. if you are using ”soft white” bulbs, they cast a yellowish light. i have been changing out all my soft white bulbs since a designer told me why things were casting yellowish in my home. i tried many different bulbs like a crazy person, and I finally chose GE reveal because they cast a white light but they aren’t crazy bright, as some of the higher kelvin bulbs were too bright and white.

I had to repaint my cabinets when I was halfway through. I used BM white dove as so many recommened at the perfect white, it was straight up YELLOW. I ended up with Oxford white. Funny because all the designer blogs say Oxford white is finiky and can pull yellow. I have it in my bathroom too, its a very clean white but not paper white.

I picked BM white dove since it was said to go well with BM pale oak and BM revere pewter. I chose it for my ceilings. New construction, they painted all ceilings and just closet walls and ceilings white dove. We used Sherwin Williams paint. The ceiling looks great but noticed as the white dove was painted so slightly on the wall it looked yellow. I thought it may just be against the white primer. The closets being white dove ceiling and walls glow a bright yellow!!! They look terrible. We did get a sample from SW first and there was no hint of yellow! Very upset. Thank goodness the ceilings do not look yellow, I hope that does not change with time!! I wish I had read these posts first.

Going through the same now... ugh...

I chose white dove after hours and hours of research and everyone said that it is the most beautiful creamy white, i went for it and it is sooo yellow! I want to cry...
