Right or left draining sink? Does it matter?

I'm about to buy a 33" Create Good Sinks ledge sink for my remodel, and I'm not sure if I should get right or left drain. Designer & contractor say it doesn't matter, but not to get central drain. Dishwasher will be to the left of the sink, dish drainer will be to the right. What would ya'll do?

Hoping my cabinet maker can get creative and fit in a 37" sink...but we'll see.

I had to make lots of painful cuts to my plans after the initial bid came back, and found Create Good Sinks after LOTS of research here on Houzz. Thanks, all! (and I've been having great luck buying surplus appliances on ebay & FB marketplace, freighted here from all over the country - shaved $10K off budget already!)

Hi Julie - I wonder why you were waved off a center drain? I have a right drain sink now and I’m not a fan. Dishwasher is to the right. What I don’t like about it is that stuff just sticks more. It’s not directly under the faucet which helps wash things away quicker. I have to turn faucet to the right or use the sprayer thoroughly every time I dump something that might remotely leave a stain or stick. Also - that combined with our water pressure being too low (supposedly within normal limits but I think it’s crap) I use lots more water. Just my 2 cents.

We have ours in your configuration (dishwasher on left, drain on right). What struck me is how much more space I have now that it’s 1 drain vs 2. Is your sink in your island?

Yes, sink is in peninsula. Good to hear it feels more spacious!

I'm sure you'll adapt to either arrangement quickly and easily, but if I HAD to choose, I think I'd want the drain and the dish drainer on opposite sides so that if I had something drying on one side I could clean/rinse/work on the other side and wash things down the drain easily.
