Is there a possibility of placing landscaping to break up the side wall?

Take a deep breath. Maybe this wasn’t the direction you thought you would go in, but since you are here, know that from an outsider‘s view, it looks fine.

At this point in time, go forward with all your construction. Make sure the inside is exactly what you want.

Years from now, the siding can be replaced.

I am a firm believer in low maintenance. I can certainly appreciate real wood batten, just not on a home I have to take care of.

You didn't make a $35,000 mistake at all.* You're looking at an unfinished building with no landscaping in wintertime. You made a very good choice with the wood trim and features front and back.

Hire a landscape designer when you're done to extend some deep beds around the house. Choose native shrubs, grasses, perennials and evergreens so you always have the greenery to look at. Mulch it with same shade as wood trim. Add wood planters with plenty of greens and flowers. Add wood deck chairs you can relax in instead of restaining wood board and batten!

* Some of us are waiting for the gray trend to be gone. Fortunately it does look good with golden wood tones--warm it up inside and outside.

I might not have made the exact same design decisions, but it looks perfectly fine. I wouldn't rip anything out, specially these days with materials having low inventory, long lead times and higher prices. In your climate, real wood will probably last 4 years at the most, before it needs to be re-stained or re-painted. Do you really want to have that extra recurring expense?

I agree with everyone else - it’s not what was in your mind (which is a bummer for sure) but it truly looks fine - just unfinished. Keep going!

Yes, the belly bands don't add anything but otherwise, low maintenance has its advantages. I would not secong guess the choice.

I think the white belly bands break up a large expanse of siding and look good. Keep them white.

Once you install some landscaping, it will look a lot better.

Now is not the time to try to get building materials. From what I've read prices are way up. In ten years, if you feel a need to change go for it.

It looks great. Low maintenance siding is best in my opinion. We had a house with wood siding and it needed lots of maintenance. Our current home is vinyl sided and low maintenance which I love. Anything new takes a while to get used to. With landscaping it will look wonderful. When I had my bathrooms redone I had sage vanities installed. I then regretted not choosing the cream vanities. After about 2 weeks or so, I was happy I chose the sage ones. Your house is beautiful❣️

Don't think of it as a mistake, think of it as an opportunity to have some excellent landscaping.

The siding is not horrible but I do not like the white trim.
