Removed Shutters

I removed the shutters, because I didn't think they looked right on the large window, but now it looks kinda plain, any suggestions? I would like to place the iron columns with beams, I am also thinking of painting the storm windows black and adding muttons to the glass to give it some interest, I've also thought maybe just add white shutters to the smaller window and maybe window boxes on both windows.. Thank you!

Your place is adorable! I believe the reason it "looks kinda plain" is that you haven't put all of your things back on the porch--furniture, rug and the star on the wall. Perhaps bring those things back and take another to picture for yourself to determine if that's enough. I do have one suggestion, put the chairs/love seat on the opposite where there is more visual wall space. Perhaps the bench then beneath the set of 3 windows. One last thing, hang the US flag.

    Enjoy!

Put the seating area on the left side, wrap the metal pillars in cedar, and add lots of plants. Looks great!

Adorable house! I love the planters on either side of the door. I agree with the others. Put the seating arrangement on the other side. Get a bigger rug under it. Put up the hanging baskets. Put a nice long bench under the large window with maybe a matching rug on that side (not sure about the rug there, but I'd try it).
In addition to beefing up the iron supports, maybe paint the door and storm a nice color of your choice. It's hard to tell if your porch light is the same, but consider getting a new, bigger light. I think, after you do these things, you will not miss the shutters.

Really cute!! Love it. Looks very good!
I agree for sure to have the furniture on the left side.
Beef up the posts with cedar. Maybe add a light over the door.
Possibly a new door ( wood?? Pretty color??)
And then maybe tile the baseboard part of the steps in a pretty decorative tile.
    Picturing something patterned.
    Lovely space.

Lovely home❣️Your ideas are good. I think you can consider some window boxes, as flowers will add color. Possibly a new door with a pop of color❣️

Thank you everyone for the suggestions, I will try the seating on the other side, I had never thought of that. Do you think I should put shutters on just that one smaller window, or just leave them off completely? I did get a new light, I may switch it out to a more barn house looking one though.

I should have added these to original post, one is right after shutters were removed so you can still see all of the other stuff on the porch, and the second is me moving the furniture around a little before I completely removed it. I am getting ready to pain the outside soon.

I would love to have a covered porch! Can you do a porch swing? Consider painting the door so it doesn’t blend— before the shutters led your eye to the door, now it just disappears.

I don't think the roof would support the weight of a swing, I would like to paint the front door but I'm not sure how that would work with the storm door, I can't remove it. I thought also about painting both

you mentioned you'll be painting the outside soon. Do you mean the house? If so what color are you going with? I must confess I like the white. Anyway, I think your current posts 'fit' your house.

I will just be repainting it white. I am going to have to do it in sections since I will be doing it my self.

I think some wood posts would be great.

Additional some flower boxes and pots across the front in place of a railing and then what is your favorite color? A nice color for your front doors would be a nice addition.

I would do a bigger flower box than the one shown and wood if possible or several that fill the space between the posts.

Removing the shutters was the right decision.

You can also put some metal wall art out there like your small star but on a larger scale. A nice welcome sign near the door.
