Well, you're miles ahead in that as an electrician you should have some good troubleshooting skills. First, find the electrical schematics inside the furnace and/or outside condensing unit for an exact troubleshooting reference for your system. Below are two simple furnace/A/C schematics (essentially identical systems) for a very basic system. In A/C mode, the furnace blower is either always on ('fan on' at thermostat) or switched on ('auto') with the A/C compressor when the cooling thermostat contact closes. In heating mode, there is a temperature switch (not shown below) sensing the heat exchanger temp that then switches the blower on. Sounds like you need to look into why the thermostat isn't getting the blower a signal to come on. At the furnace, jumpering the G to R terminal should always turn the blower on. In cooling mode, jumpering the G to Y should bring the blower on, etc. Of course, if the system is fancier than this, you will find extra controls, delays, etc. as well. Tysm. I figured it out. Previous owner had blue wire on c in thermostat instead of G. I was down to my last bit of troubleshooting. I truly appreciate ur effort, knowledge and time.

Idky but the owner before me took the smart thermostat and left the old school ones... Everything worked in the winter time so I'm assuming he accidentally put the blue wire in the wrong spot.

WiFi thermostats need a C connection for the ground in order to power the WiFi radio. The old thermostats did not need this ground connection. One way to get around the lack of an additional wire is to use the wire for the G (fan) connection as the C wire. If you want to install a WiFi thermostat in the future you should run a new wire bundle with extra wires.

Yea I think he was confused when he switched it back to the old thermostat. And since u bring that green wire up. Do I need to update my furnace if I wanted to go to a 5 wire or can I add/change components in my furnace to do the change . I was looking up diagrams on how to change my system up but was unsure what I need to do to achieve that.
