i used the cheapest masking tape i could find ... and left it until it fell off .. whats your hurry ...

i did regret that once ... when the dollar store had a bad run of tape that wouldnt come off the roll...lol ...

if left long enough .. you can sometimes tell the plant is outgrowing the tape.. and it can be removed then ...

you can always cut it open.. and if it still flops... you can just retape it ... but even if you cut it open.. just leave it hanging until it falls off..

just dont harm the petioles taking off the tape after what you went thru ...

if you taped it right.. you wouldnt need the stakes ... sometimes you need to tape it 2 or 3 times up the petioles ...

I did 2 sets of tape on each but they look like Dr Suess plants. I will be patient.

What's this about tape? Pictures please. I've never put masking tape on my hostas, and don't know why you are doing this. I want to learn!

It is done to hold the leaves up if they flop after transplanting a leafed out plant.

oh, yes, turgid discussion,,, hauntingly in my memory! lol transplanted some beautiful hugh hosta that year, but.... someone didn't water while I was away.......sigh

I remembered the discussion, just not where it was. A search on turgid in this forum found it quickly as not many posts contained turgid.

I remember that post......i think a repost brought it back to the current thread, or whatever.....But I read it and that’s how I learned about separating hostas. But I don’t remember any turgid discussion.....will have to refresh.
