My suggestion would be to put a header at the end of the hallway where the jog is and create an cased opening 3' wide + to break it up. This would also give you a break in the ceiling to where you could add crown molding above and define the two rooms hallway/...

I'd get a beautiful runner and put some pretty roman shades on the windows and french doors. perhaps add a bench under the windows. Then use the wall space to hang lots of art.

Light fixtures and faux beams can break of the distance of a long hallway.

We had a very long hall, 5’ wide and did similar to what designdiscoveries posted - placed a wide & thick cased opening at each end for a visual break and to frame in part of it. In that section replaced the recessed can lights with a row of surface mounted fixtures. Mostly left it minimal though. Sometimes had long plain seagrass runners, sometimes not depending on if the kids were skateboarding or something lol.

I like the above suggestions... I would also consider molding the walls.
Wainscoting and crown molding would look amazing.
Don’t clutter with furniture if you don’t need the storage or seating...

The end of the hall looks like a good spot for a potted tree. A real one.

Is that a coat closet right by the stairs? If so, opposite it would be a good spot for a mirror and a console table; a place to drop keys and to check yourself before going out the front door. If you are not front door people, then put something there to greet guests that highlights your own style and hints at what to expect in the major public room that they will access from the hallway.

Interesting that the former owners had an office in part of it. Another option would be to end the foyer at the narrow point past the stairs. Drywall and French doors might offer some separation if the other doors on the hallway are more private spaces.

Mostly you just need some large artwork on the walls. I would only add a bench or potted tree at the end of the hallway by the windows. Keep the sides of the hallway clear of furniture and clutter. After adding artwork, if you still want something more you can add the runner, but I don't think it will be necessary.

The one view you didn’t show is the area at the foot of the stairs..from the stairs ..looking down a little...hall seems wider there..may be the ideal spot
to add some thing there?..unfortunately...a long runner will just accentuate how long the hall is ...breaking up the hall a little as previously suggested...using different paint colors.......even if colors are subtle...breaking up the hall into sections...will make it possible to use shorter ..varying...maybe even wider rugs or runners in the sections ... turning this into an interesting group of spaces rather than an oddly long hallway

If you don’t want to add structural separations ...use different pale paint colors/shades on coves and projections...varying rug patterns to match the different wall colors to create separate scenarios to stop the eye so the long hall is less obvious...very much in the “gallery” mood as suggested by others

If you choose neutrals for the walls..picking the art will be easier...can be varied....more colorful...choosing similar frames...or widely different frames will both work

I agree with @RappArchitecture - start with a runner and then do similar-framed photos. Good place to do a family photo gallery. A cousin of mine did that in her “long hallway” and people spent a lot of time there looking at the very old, historic photos of our family.

I'd put a comfy reading chair and lamp/table at the end of the hall. Would look cozy, and I think I'd perch there to enjoy the light!

If high wainscoting works with the look of your house, THAT HALLWAY is the place to do it! It adds immediate elegance.
