Some sort of salvia, but hard to tell from the small pic -- could be an annual or perennial salvia, a better shot of the foliage would help identify but from what I can see of the foliage it doesn't look like "May Night" perennial salvia, more like an annual salvia but just can't tell.

Appears to be one of the Salvia longispicata x farinacea hybrids, such as Mystic Spires or Rockin’ Playin’ the Blues. I’ve grown several of these types and, although pricy for annuals (they do occasionally return in my zone 6), they are exceptional performers, IMO.

Thanks to all. I believe it is either a Mystic Spires or May Night. They are both commonly sold here in Central Florida. It is the plant of a good friend of mine; I will ask her to send me a better picture.

The problem with the picture is that the photo is a minor portion of it. Tell her to send a picture that contains only a photo. Or if the picture that she sent did contain only a photo, then you post a picture that contains only the photo.
