if you can afford it and don't mind the upkeep, I think the same flooring thought-out looks cleaner and more expensive. I recently laid wood porcelain tile thought out my home and included the laundry room as well, no regrets. :)

1st world problems. I would not suggest marble or any other smooth hard surface in a room where water or other liquids could make the floor slippery. If laundry is not something you do often and form is over function then Marble it is.

Flooring should have a texture to it if it routinely gets wet. This prevents slips and falls. Marble is also not a sealed surface. Certain spills will stain and you won’t be able to get those stains out.

yeah, it's the kitchen application that seems craziest to me!
