We installed this light/fan combo in our guest bath and paired it with a humidity switch, so the fan automatically turns on/off based on the humidity level in the room.

I put a fantech in my bath, but you have to be able to install the motor in the attic. It's really powerful and perfectly quiet because of the remoteness of the motor. I chose the halogen spots because they were brighter, but LED has improved a great deal in the 10 years since I installed mine, so I'd go LED now.

I was looking at the Panasonic Whisper quiet fan/light but in the reviews the major complaint was related to esthetics. It appears you can see the motor behind the light?

We decided we will just put a light above our shower and add an exhaust fan in the middle of the bathroom ceiling. I have not looked for a shower light or an exhaust fan yet. Our bathroom is about 8'x10' and I like to be able to hear the fan (medium noise level maybe). Any suggestions?

It seems as though it makes more sense not to have a fan in the shower as why would you actually want it to run while you are showering?

I have can lights in the shower and a Panasonic Whisper Fan in the ceiling outside my relatively small - maybe 8' x 10" bathroom. My fan is automatic as it turns on and off based on ambient humidity levels. Generally it turns on after a shower and then shuts itself off about 1/2 hour later although I've never timed it.

Why do you want to hear your fan? I can hear mine if I am listening for it but it is pretty quiet which is why it is called "whisper" I guess 😂

Like olychick, I have Fantech fan/lights in my bathroom, one in the shower and one in the toilet room. I love them--they are super quiet and there is never any condensation or humidity in the room EVER. I specify them for my clients and they love them as well.

I have wondered about Fantech. I have two adjacent bathrooms, and that would be a huge improvement over the fan in the hall bath/shower.

Diana, which fantech fan do you have and where do you buy them?

Thank you all for your suggestions. I ended up having my contractor put an exhaust fan in the middle of the bathroom and a flat recessed LED light above the shower.

@Julie K, can you tell me about your (bath?) walls? They look seamless!

@tartanmeup, you have a good eye! We used Corian Glacier white with coved corners on our walls. We love it so much we're doing Corian Glacier white for the shower walls and Pearl Gray on top of our shower bench and shower pan in our walk-in shower. Going with Corian wasn't cheap but totally worth it!!!

@Julie K, this is my dream. The shower pan won't be slippery? May I ask how you found an installer? Would need to win the lottery for a whole shower but maybe I can get at least a Corian shower pan?! We live in the SF Bay Area. Sullivan's Countertops in Berkeley did our fabrication for our Corian tub walls and we're using them again for our walk-in shower. If you're having trouble finding an installer I suggest reaching out to Corian directly and asking them for the contact information for your local distributor and asking who does the most Corian installations in your local area.

Sullivan's doesn't fabricate shower pans but they'll measure, order and install our custom Grifform shower pan.
