Now I now why people post questions here about other tropicals.... there is no Forum for 'that' tropical. So, I am asking those who grow figs for some help.

I have two figs in pots: Petit Negra and Italian Honey. Also, this whole area where my house sits was once a fig orchard. Last Fall I had figs growing up from the ground in the same area as the potted figs. From the leaves, I think they might be Petit Negra.... but could be wrong. I took out all but one of these and have decided to let it grow in situ.

It is at least 8 feet tall... already. All the leaves are way up at the top. I would like to cut it back to about 4 feet to get it to send out lower branches. Is this advisable?

Last year I pruned back the potted figs and stuck some of the Petit Negra cuttings in a spare pot.... and they rooted! I now have 3 pots with baby Petit Negra that are about 18 inches tall. (The one in the ground grew a lot faster.... like 8 feet in one year!)
