as this is open floor plan....windowless is a consideration.....are there any shades in your decor themes to bring in? I wouldnt go with any more white or gray...... I might want a pale blue glass or ceramic tile...maybe very pale blue/green.....or pale green. Stay traditional with shape and configuration. I'd wait on the hardware .....I like the shape and size of your handles so its just a change in finish / a slender satin nickel I suppose....nothing urgent so maybe wait and see : you have a few other things to do.

A few options with brass hardware would look great!

It really depends on the look you would like to have, but I agree that a light blue could possibly be nice.

You could go paler on the blue, also - but I like this general color direction.

For something a bit more striking, I think this bolder patterned tile could also be nice in your space.

Bold, but not over the top, I think. Fun.

“Whites” can clash.....the undertone can appear yellow or gray or beige or blue. Lighting can also affect the way whites look. Ambient light from windows and sliding doors may also affect the way whites look. If the white of your backsplash does not match the white in the counter, they will clash. If you use a gray backsplash, you need to consider both the wall color and the counter color. It’s not too late to use the same counter material for your backsplash if you can get the exact same material.
Same material....same color...no conflict. I also like the seamless/groutless look of the same slab material used as the backsplash. My own kitchen has the same granite for both the counter and backsplash. Your counter is a beautiful light color: more of the same will be beautiful.

Maybe I'm not seeing it, but I think it looks good as is. Especially in the second photo.

First off -- I love your counters! Makes me pine for the Virginia Mist I didn't get...

I agree with herbflavor -- no more white or gray. That's only going to up the blah factor. You have myriad options for COLOR here, either bold or soft -- depends what else is going on in your house to coordinate the color scheme, the overall "vibe" that ties in with your house, and what you like.

Wow, thanks for the feedback and suggestions - Colors I hadn’t even considered. I’ve been given a lot of options and looks like I’ll be bringing home a lot of samples. Who knew this would turn into a full time job. As always, I truly appreciate your time and suggestions, fingers crossed for a winner

jonnyt, what samples are you getting? can you give an idea of what you like?

Since your cab color is the dingier white tone (that's just how White Dove is) I wouldn't do a brighter white tile like a subway tile. between the cab color and the granite white, adding another white tone (usually a brighter white like what you currently have) will only make the cabinet white look dingier.

what about this?

I love this tile. it's a honed,polished and brushed marble set in a chevron pattern. has the softer gray and white tones that compliment the granite.

Seneca tiles. this one is Carrara Blend:

a soft blue? this color might look nice w/the gray tones.

I like this black tile but I'd do a white grout.

or look into a basalt or a black slate tile. with white or very light gray grout, it looks like this

I like all of those and I believe way back when you had placed the darker tiles with the counter. I do like the the chevron very much and the darker charcoal/black although my husband isn’t sold on going darker. I brought home charcoal grey tile for the bathroom but right now it’s sitting on the counter and not hating it. I think we’ll investigate the chevron. Thanks!

Beth h…I keep going back to all great the backsplash tile samples you suggested one being, shade brick. I’ve had a sample of equipe white artisan, glossy sitting in my kitchen for a week. It appears very similar to shade brick and bedrosians cloe -could that work? My husband doesn’t like the fact it’s glossy and not matte. I just feel I want to go on the lighter shade in the kitchen and not a definite grey or color. The lighter tones, varying shades of whites, light grey would not limit me to wall color down the road? Thank you for your opinion

I think a soft blue over another gray would be better. You can do any rectangular tile in a chevron layout. I bet my husband would also not like a super dark backsplash but all the light blues seemed to enhance the beauty of your countertop. Just one opinion.

Thanks. I’m thinking I’ll need to take a leave of absence from work in order to get tile samples during the majority of the store hours…not many open on the wk/ends which adds to the challenge of trying to be done with this!

FYI - Tilebar will send 5 samples for $5 in the mail. Many online websites do this as well, so look online AND in local stores.

did you look Bedrosians online? the Makoto line? they're matte.
