big mistake in marble shower!!!

So my contractor installed a mosaic that was totally diff from the rest. I’m trying to find the batch but floor and decor said they don’t carry the same shade of Carrara chateau marble herringbone all the time. I found some examples but don’t feel any of them truly blend! One is honed and the bottom left is polished. What can we do to fix this situation?

What ever you decide to do do it as fast as humanly possible as the setting materials get harder as they sit and dry. and hopefully the tile can even be removed without compromising your waterproof system on the pan.

As posted above, you need to just replace the tile with a batch that matches.

This is the fault of whoever laid the tile. When I had marble tile laid, everything was laid out before it was actually installed to make sure that the result was aesthetic. They should have caught the issue and not actually used any of it.

That's horrible, and poor of the contractor. I can't imagine that the contractor didn't notice this him/herself and remedied it before finishing. What did the contractor say about it? How did he justify it? I would look for him to fix it, not run myself ragged trying to find something that still won't look good, anyway.

Obviously that goof should be your contractor's problem, but given that he was the culprit, his judgement is definitely impaired! I can't imagine that the tile guy didn't see the issue when he was setting the tile.

If I was setting that tile and realized I had tile which didn't match, I would have cut sheets as necessary to get the light colored tile in a balanced pattern. A square surrounding the drain would have been an acceptable approach for me.

Yikes. We're in the midst of a bathroom reno & I'd be soooo disappointed to see that. We've encountered plenty of hiccups, stuff happens, plans change..... but they should've caught that, stopped & asked questions before completing it. If they can't find a better match they have to take up the entire pan and re-do with matching tile. I'm curious - did the GC address this as a problem OR was he hoping you wouldn't notice??

He ended up addressing it and replaced that piece, I had to piece little bits together to get better color blending. I think it’s a lot better, still wet. I’m concerned he didn’t red guard before applying tile, hopefully waterproof isn’t compromised ...

I hope he didn't think that he was going to get away with it. I still can't believe that he left it that way!

It looks a lot better! I hope it dried well, and you checked on the waterproofing. I'd keep a close eye on the rest of the project if it's not done. It's a red flag they put that in without consulting you.
