I would paint this space white. Buy a beautiful piece of art to hang on wall...lots of one bright color.mixed with neutrals ..will make a great focal point.pick up some of this same color in throw pillows etc.. Stain top of banisters expresso black...it will coordinate with the grey walls

I love the color on your wall maybe add some different sized frames in white . doesn't have to be family pic could be pic of anything you like

Maybe some type of fabric wall hanging could work there...a tapestry or colorful quilt that would cover the a/c control, but still leave it accessible.

Floating shelf large enough to fit over the top of the AC control and still be accessible..........prop some fun pieces on it to add some color to the area.

A mirror grouping would be nice. And it would distract attention away from the thermostat.

I would suggest a gallery wall. If you want to paint the wall, maybe paint it a light grey and make the frames bright contrast colors. If youre keeping the wall color, white frames would look great on it. Good luck!

Restoration hardware wall decor category has some AWESOME prints of old maps from Paris and one long black and white vintage drawing of the Louvre. That would be quite something.. they are on old parchment looking paper. I'd love one if I had a wall space like you do.

The wall that you can see in the back right of the photo would look better painted the same light grey as the rest of the walls.

I think an art piece with some color- I think if the scale is right and the edge is against the air conditioner controller it would appear centered on the wall. It doesn't have to be huge, there is a lot going on already with doors and vents and controllers so I would measure the wall and find center and see how close you can come. Or center between the controller and door to right. I can't see enough of your home to get a sense of your style to suggest a piece.

if you are going for a nautical theme i would do a sea blue suede on the walls it will add texture and make the walls pop more

A great accent wallpaper. Pick something that ties the style you are going for and the colours in the adjoining rooms. It's a great space to play with. Have fun.

Hi Alyssa, I would place three pieces of art there, that would lighten the wall and tie it to the rest of your space. I see a lot of shades of brown. I did a digital mockup for you with a few pieces of my medallion series for you to see how it would affect your wall.

These pieces can be printed on paper, rolled in a tube....which is the least expensive way to ship. Or you can get them framed and matted on my website. Frames add a nice visual element, a thin block one would bring a lot of pop to your wall. They can also be purchased on canvas, and that would give a beautiful modern look.

Simple would be better...one large graphic or a subtle piece like above mentioned. Little frames would be too busy.

Like the comment before, a single mirror or a grouping would be nice.

BTW...Alyssa, I think that dark wall is great. I would not paint it lighter. It's a nice contrast in your space. Adding things to it will give it more balance.

I think a large, abstract picture full of color would really do alot for your space. The color would liven up the dark wall, making it less gloomy and opressing, but at the same time would draw attention to it...in a good way :) Something like this might work.

The vent definitely needs painted or wallpapered over to "hide" it.
Another idea about the thermostat---what is on the other side of the wall? It looks like another room
Without knowing all of the details, could this thermostat be moved to the other side of the wall which would
cost less than doing a major move? This would free up this wall. If you don't have a mirror
in any of these adjoining rooms, one would be nice here. If your dining room is to the right, it would look
better in there. Your choice about what to place on this wall depends on what you have going on in the other rooms adjoining what I can see in the photo.

Perfect space for mural that would tie in the white, grays and browns. Or paint a simple silhouette using just one or two colors see photo below of hand painted mural. A photo was taken in Monet's garden in France and reduce to a black and white image and transferred to the wall. The whole wall becomes a piece of art.

Add that pop your seeking with piece of art, that ties in everything, while breaking up family portraits

Not hard to take vent cover down and paint to match wall. Then hang that branch to obscure that ac while still allowing access. Besides, a bit of nature inside is always good.

You could always use wall decals. Like trees? Across the wall. It would fit the natural colors you have going.

i think for that hallway! the colour is great! i would suggest wall decors! something in nature like some people suggested trees or something because I think that would really make that wall pop!
so either groupings, like mirror groupings, a natural sculpture piece or any type of natural wall decor would look great with that colour. love it.

You could have a muralist paint your favorite quote!

I would have wallpapered that wall to hide thermostat . A city lights Mural of New York in black and white. Would look stunning.

I like the idea of adding something mirrored and/or something organic. Not sure if the hallway is wide enough to add a large plant. Otherwise really like Dar's ideas and to remove the covers and paint them to blend with the wall. I like the pops of green in these photos if it's possible to get a real plant in there.

The natural, or more sculptural art is best for this location. The more modern art makes it look cheap.
