Closet floor plan layout help!

This 54”x36” closet will be just mine, and needs a good floor plan.)

i need much more shelf space than hanging space, so i want to put the hanging space across the side rathr than the back, if that makes sense.

The first question is: how should the doorway look?

in order to put hanging rods, i have to basically close in the doorway a little. three options:

1) do just a 6” piece of lywood sticking out, front side of clothes completely visible fron bed

2) do a full 15” of plywood there, whoch will hide the sides of the clothes, but be visible as birvch plywood (finushed to match shelves seen to the right in the reality pic.) and should this be set back tye 6” of the bump oyt or all the way at the front?

3) pull the doorway closed by that same amount, drywall, and trim framing the new ooening (opening would be avout 3” wide then)

we are in heavy room moving around and things are just shoved in right now. closet will be built of birch plywood- working on whay the shelves/drawer tower will loook like but firsy this part!

IMO a 36" deep closet is not one bit better tyhan a 24" deep one so why not just get Pax from Ikea and arrange the parts to suit your items . Hanging space needs 24" depth so now all you would have is 18" for shelves on the back wall IMO do a reach in Pax or similar style .

Patricia, i agree its not ideal. But simply going straight across the back in a reach in style takes away 16” of much needed space in such a small space. i need to use the back and the side to fit what i need, which includes every singie bit of clothing including all drawer things and shoes. let me lay out my needs a bit better...

currently, i use 24” of hanging pant space, 18” of hanging shirt space, and 12” of hanging dress space. i have the pants and shirt stacked, but essentially need 36” of hanging space.

i curently also have 1 12” wide shelving dystem full in my current closet, plus 36” of shoes.

then, there is the entire 28” wide armoire worth of folded clothes, underwear, socks, etc that is going in here.

luckily i dont have to share. :) but...36” deep shelves are pretty useless to me. honestly my 18” deep armoir was too deep. i need to find tye best way to maximize the storage in here, and doing a reach in system only gives me 54” of anything where im thinkih my l thoughts give me 12” more? but am i totally off base?

(we are definitely building it, so very customizable in every way. We built one we love in our first bedroom in this house.)

    Back with more ideas....

My original thiught..... (with hanging clothes at an L, which creates the issue if the dorway in original post.)

two ideas on a traditional reach in/Pax style cobfiguration...

One small bit of info is that on that left side there is a small access panel to the utilities that i’m thinking I don't want to block and so eould like hanging or laundry basket there. Also, i wear mosted folded shirts and pants, but have about 3 dresses, and a few button up shirts/blazers. finally hung pants and small width shelves wirk the best for me.
