Love Danby! You don't see that many slabs out there.

As far as honed vs polished. What is the overall look of the kitchen? Cabinet colors, hardware, etc? What backsplash do you plan on using and will it be honed or polished? Overall vibe of the house, formal vs casual?

Nice! Are those the Top Knobs, Davenport pulls? If not, would like to know what brand? I was looking at them recently and they are either discontinued or way out of stock!

Thanks @chispa! They are the Davenport pulls, I was able to get all but one size easily when I ordered a few weeks ago, but it may have changed--I ordered mostly from Build.com but found them on Wayfair, Amazon, and other sites as well.

Honed all the way in a kitchen.

I have polished montclair danby and it etches (as I was warned). I'm not sure but I think honed might stain more easily.

With that beautiful slab, my vote is honed.

FWIW. I have a carrara marble counter that is honed. Last night we entertained. When we went to clean up there was red wine on the counter. It easily wiped up on our marble (we have a good sealer on it), so I don't buy that polished will resist stains more easily.

Question for Danby owners (or marble owners in general)--did you reseal after installation? Attaching some photos of my one-hour-old island counter!

Has your installer finished? What stone is going on the perimeter? Usually the installer will seal, but you want to find out what they are using. There are some sealers than have been recommended here over the years that are better products. I'm sure someone will come along and list them.

You also want to make sure your perimeter is protected/covered when they come in to do the backsplash.

You can do a search on the forums. Tenax Proseal and Akemi came up as a recommendation. Some sealers will change/enhance the color of the stone, so you might want to test on a remnant or hidden spot before you end up with something you don't love.

Some will also skip the sealers and accept and love the patina that will accumulate as the counters get used.

Here is a thread that mentions several sealers. You can do some research on each to see which you like more.

Beautiful kitchen @Keshet Starr I vote for honed. I could not find Danby when I was doing my kitchen but I do have a honed marble and love it.

Keshet Starr, your kitchen is gorgeous! is the slab in the photo at the top of the thread the one used for your actual countertop? I have found a soft veined imperial danby slab which I love. Now questioning if too soft. Perhaps an enhancing sealer will bring things out. I’ll have to read up on that. All other slabs in my area are wild and dark at the moment!

@shaupt Yes that's the one! My perimeter counters have more veining, but I wanted a subtle look for the island.

I love it- that would be what im going for too. Would you mind sharing a photo of your perimeter? Do you think a slab like this may give a similar look? All of the other slabs in my area are darker and very wild, but I’m now concerned this may be too washed out? So hard to know! But your‘s are sooo beautiful, so if this was even close…. And if you have any advice re: fabrication (like did your fabricator go over how the veining would look? Or did you use a designer to help with that? Or just yourself :) ).

Keshet Star, thanks so much for sharing. Beautiful!! So interesting that they are darker in the stoneyard. Here are 2 possible options. I prefer the lighter one, but wish there was maybe a little more veining. The darker seems a bit wild and strong. Do you have a thought about either of them to give the look you have? This is such a big decision!!

Hey @shaupt I personally favor the lighter look so would go for the top slab but they are both beautiful! Just different styles. I've seen some gorgeous kitchens with Montclair danby that has tons of movement, but felt that light and bright worked better with my color scheme and the available lighting.

Thanks so much for your response! Means a lot. Saw the busier slabs in person today (DH loves them, they were better in person) and will see the softer ones Monday. I just wish there was something in between, but not in my area at the moment…. But like you said, they are both beautiful! If i go with the busier one, all other kitchen choices will have to take a backseat :). Congrats on a great kitchen- hoping for one too :)

Aw thank you! I know you are enjoying your kitchen too. It is a dreamy material. We are slowed down with supply chain issues, but we can at least use the kitchen!

Shavuot. I ended up with Danby and LOVE it! I was very careful in the beginning. Not anymore. We got honed and find it very easy to take care of. I am still careful with citrus. But otherwise, I’m a messy cook. No problems!

Love my honed Imperial Danby!

These Danby marbles are making me salivate! I love them so much! I’m in the process of “overthinking” about a kitchen redo. All because I have a 40” range that has an oven that can’t be fixed.

Well, it’s time for plan B. The estimate for Imperial Danby was overwhelming at @$12,000. My kitchen isn’t even that big-about 40 sq. ft. of counters max.

Well dang! I am not a fan of quartz but I just saw a slab and thought it was quite lively. I brought the sample home. It compared very nicely to the honed Imperial Danby caramel colors and looked like real marble. I have seen several slab of this. Not all slabs are alike. VIatera Brushed quartz. You might want to check it out.

Thanks- it looks good. I’ll be checking out my options. I told my husband I’ll just keep running up and down the steps to use our basement kitchen oven. It’s not too bad except when I make several large homemade pizzas - I get lots of exercise!
