Nepeta Cat’s Pajamas - do you have it?

Can anyone tell me how Nepeta Cat’s Pajamas performs in the real world, specifically, when does it start blooming and how long does it last? Will it rebloom?

I’m looking to replace some Rozanne geraniums that line a walkway. I love Rozanne, but she is an absolute beast, and becomes so untidy as the season progresses. Thanks!

I planted three in spring of last year here in upstate NY (5b) in all-day sun. They were a bit scruffy the first year, as to be expected when they were getting established, but they're blooming nicely for me this spring.

They were definitely my earliest blooming Nepeta (starting around May 10 if I recall), about 2-3 weeks before Walker's Low, Purrsian Blue and Blue Wonder, and they've been going non-stop since then without any sign of fading, though I can't yet comment on re-bloom.

My only (minor) complaint is that they seem to be a little bit more compact than advertised, topping out at about 10-12" in full bloom with about a 20-24" spread at the moment. They definitely seem better suited for edging a pathway or driveway, rather than in a mixed border situation where they might get lost or overwhelmed by more impactful plants.

Thanks for the information, sah67, it is so helpful!! I do wish Cat’s Pajamas was a bit taller, but I really think that could work well in my situation, lining the pathway leading to my front door.

GardenHo, I love Rozanne, I really do. but mine are 30” high mounds and that doesn’t even include the flowers. I do cut them back sometime after the first major bloom, but man, they are monstrous until then. Beautiful photos!

I also have it. Very deep color compared to others I have. Mine also bloomed earlier than the others. They are in second year but Havmt spread as much as I had hoped. About same size as when I planted them.

The clearer blue color really draws my eye and even way up north here it's very early flowering, I plan to heavily use it in the landscape.

I see Rozanne around here for sale sometimes and I don't remember them having such large flowers. I love Cranesbill, I wish I could find more varieties with different heights, long bloom periods, larger flowers.

I recently purchased Cat’s Meow for one of my beds, here it is just planted and mulched! It’s larger than Cat’s Pajamas, but smaller than Walker’s Low, so I’m hopeful it is just right for this particular bed.
