Yes, go ahead and remove the shutters. Do you have a color in mind? Do you have a favorite color you'd like for the door? That might be a starting place, but you do have to consider the roof color. It looks to be new. Landscaping will have a huge impact. Unless that stumpy bush in the left foreground blooms out beautifully, remove it and start a flower bed right there. Then move to making deep, curving beds at the foundation and walk areas. You might consider leaving the body of the home white and trimming it in a color with a bright pop for the front door. New, larger lights (1/3 of the door's height) will improve things too.

I agree with removing the shutters.

The curb appeal would be greatly enhanced by adding shrubs of different types and shapes and different shades of green and different leaf shapes, punctuated by colored perennials (in the colorways you like.)

I like big brass house numbers, it tells people, "I want you to find my house!"

Can you put up some more photos taken from further back so we can see more of the front yard and your driveway?

What part of the country are you in? What gardening zone?

Other Houzzers are much better than I at house paint colors.

I am wondering if instead of those strict straight lines for the concrete in front of the house, if a curved area might be prettier, and on the concrete you could have some nice potted plants, and nice landscaping on the grassy side of the concrete. Maybe a small table and a couple of chairs with an outdoor rug on the concrete if you enlarged the concrete area a bit, and you could make a small pergola extending out from the roof, and you could hang a couple of plants from the pergola.

Then it would look somewhat welcoming to neighbors.

Even if you don't like your neighbors, it would be welcoming to you every time you drive home.

Ok yes landscaping we have to work on and we are removing that bush. We are not much for gardeners so we were thinking more of large planters under the windows. Yes we want to add a chair or two with little table. My inside is supe eclectic but mostly mid century. I like gray colors but with the faux brick walls and it being so rectangular I feel like it would look a huge cement brick. Im also in Florida

there's actually quite a bit you can do.

landscaping should be top of the list. doesn't matter what you do to the house, if something isn't done w/the yard the house won't matter.

super simple. (ignore the portico over the front door)

are you more bold? paint the brick black, navy, gray, add some cedar porch posts

do some flower beds w/black mulch and brightly colored flowers and green shrubs. add some wood for accenting (like posts, garage door, front door)

if you aren't into flowers and upkeep, then at least bring in hardscape. make some flower beds (or rock beds) along the foundation and do something like these

you can start by updating the lights, address numbers, door, maybe painting the trim around the windows in black, the fascia trim black

both of these are more modern. just copy what they've done

you could easily do something like this w/yours. if you do black, paint the garge door black along w/the trim, get some carriage hardware

Bringinb in some large cement pavers like these give it a modern look

do something w/the front porch. build it out, add some hardscape, patio seating area
