I don't think there is a name for it. Do you have brick on other parts of the house? My across the street neighbors did this when they repainted there house. It made sense because they already had brick in the entrance area of the façade. Mason did a good job, the brick added to the garage seemed to match that at the entrance. If this will be the only brick on your house it may look a bit odd.

Here is the mock-up I created when I first bought the house... Though I think I would do this a little differently now. I wouldn't go quite so high with the brick and I would extend it past the trim to have it wrap the corner slightly.

I think I figured out the term... It would just be considered "wainscotting." I considered that to be more of an "interior" term, aparently it can be used to describe what I am talking about.

I respectfully disagree. A little snark that may trigger some introspection of one's decisions can be very helpful and constructive.

I like your ideas for the brick, and I love the siding color in your mock-up picture. For myself I prefer forward facing garage doors to blend in, so I'd paint the garage door to match (or a shade or two lighter or darker than) the siding. Looks to be a very pleasant house.
