If it bothers you now, it probably always will. Can you pull the darkest tiles out and replace with the light ones?

I also like it a lot. I think if you post more photos of the living space that could help. Right now I see a big blank white wall to the right of the kitchen which makes the darker cream stand out. Maybe consider painting just that big wall the darkest cream color to marry the spaces a bit more. A big canvas like the ones you posted would look great on a dark cream background. Keep going and post more pics please!

im feefeeling stuck in the same boat. just installed Cloe white kitchen backsplash and it looks cold and grey in my low light. it doesnt ”relate” to my warm cabinets and eart granite. it looks cold and clinical and im very unha with it. havent haven’t grouted yet. im sick to think of tearing it out. but im so unhappy with it, i think the cloe cream will look much better.

Victoria, I’m soooo sorry! Yes Chloe cream is very warm and beautiful. But beware it comes in at least 5 shades…

While it is not my style, the tile is beautiful.

Part of the problem might be that this is not a "backsplash", but an entire *wall* of tile.

Agree with other commenters that more wood would warm up the space, maybe wood shelves, definitely a few plants and some taller knickknacks to break up the vertical lines. The pendants will also make a difference, so give it some time to add your own imprint.

Thank you for your advise Augusta! I’m waiting on the pendants to be installed on July 7th, then go from there. I’m also on the hunt for a tall plant I can put on the island in front of the wall.

I'm so sorry that you are not over the moon about your tile installation but I think it is fabulous and might steal this idea for my upcoming renovation.

It looks fabulous from here, but I get what you mean. I think it might be too stark. I might consider a cute natural linen valance (done in a rolled shade look with ties or other style?) and I would maybe add some live-edge shelving next to the window and display some plants, pictures and objects.. There are so many other options for style, but basically I think layering a bit more texture and dimensional elements will minimize what you see. Hopefully youll find something to help how you feel about it.

Lovely colour and tile. The problem is that the tiles go all the way up to the ceiling! The height should match that of the upper cabinets (tiles should stop where the upper cabinets start)

Another way to soften the impact is to change the ceiling color to one of the paler tile colors…to lessen the contrast…and add another interesting dimension…

That is not the look that i would normally say I like but I think in your space it is absolutely perfect! i agree that wood accents would look terrific. Beautiful kitchen, enjoy it!

STUNNING, STUNNING, STUNNING! I believe you’re just not used to the look. I also recommend installing some thick wood floating shelves to break up the wall. I’m glad you went all the way up to the ceiling, your decorator was right. Live with it for a while, it’s a new look and you’re not used to it because you haven’t seen that look before. It’s very up-to-date 👍🏻

We just got these from westelm. We haven’t drilled them in yet because I need your feedback 😅

I love them, the shelves are a good thickness. I would however place them a bit higher. The spacing of the shelves is good but the bottom shelf should start at bottom of third row of tiles (approx. 2” higher). Top shelf could go up 2” as well, then the top of the upper shelf is in line with the top of the window. Good job in finding the right shelves 👍🏻

Keep in mind you want to be able to reach the top shelf easilySo top one lower not higher

Maybe centered on the wall..for a more balanced look

The lower one looks a teensy bit low to my eye.

I found a post that gives different measurements for various choices - don't know if this will be of any help. If it were me, I'd probably have to tape up pieces of paper the size of the shelves, take pictures and then decide.

Try lining up the bottom of the shelf with the bottom of your cabinets. They look a bit higher to me.

Hi Everyone! Crate and Barrel has been behind on fulfillment so we are scheduled to receive the pendant next Tuesday after 5months!! Phew! We will install next weekend. I’ll send y’all photos after it’s all installed and decorated. Thank you so much for your reassurance and help! So grateful

So the lights arrived and are too big for the height of the ceiling. My husband also thinks our house is now too brown lol! I’m so disappointed ☹️. Do I even need pendants? Or the shelves are enough?

The purpose of pendants is for lighting the peninsula work space…these may be too big…. smaller ones would be a big help and add a nice decorative touch…a pendant over the sink is also a big help when washing dishes…the can lights are usually not enough .. especially at nite

I agree that a small pendant over the sink is really helpful. i would consider using three smaller pendants over the peninsula or two larger. i love the pendants you bought, but if your husband isn’t on board, maybe use stainless steel/nickel to tie in your hardware, or even some glass to bring some sparkle?

Maybe instead of the the white decor pieces you could use white canisters for ..flour..sugar..etc.

A pretty basket with paper napkins?..a clear canister with cookies?..

I don’t know if you exchanged the pendants for something else yet, but I wondered if just 2 pendants instead of 3 would work? Or a similar style, maybe slightly smaller? I like the pendants you bought, but maybe a lighter color would help husband with the brown issue? Ha! Full discloser, I am terrible at making things the right scale or height. I only choose these pendants for a mockup because they were close in style but the lighter color. Can I please copy your kitchen in my future next kitchen? As my younger friend would say, Gorg-waaa!

I, like the commenter above me, just found your kitchen and fell in love! I am using Cloe white tiles in my primary bath and I love them so much that I was looking for ideas for the backsplash in the kitchen. Now I think I will be doing the same thing - I think it is the perfect amount of busy-ness. Thanks for posting!

WOW! When I first saw the pic I thought it was out of a high-end design magazine. So chic! I just bought white Cloe but now that I see yours, I'm having second thoughts. I hope you've come to love it. It's special.

Hoping the original poster sees this. I am finally ready to do my backsplash and just wondered if you knew if you did a 50/50 split with the cream Cloe and the white Cloe? I am buying my tiles tomorrow!

I actually really love your tiles, I think they bring a nice creaminess and warmth to your kitchen without making it look “too dark“. All white kitchens are classic and probably will never go out of style but they do get a bit boring to me. You can always emphasize the white and lighter tones with your accessories, including your barstools and decorative objects.

I love the wood open shelves on the wall, I was actually going to suggest that but you were already ahead of me lol! Maybe whatever you choose to display on those shelves could be white and this will help you achieve the bright colors you want to see.

Last comment, and this one is important: one of the things I cringe at when I look at design is a “bald” window. That really ruins the vibe lol! Your window needs a nice treatment, I would opt for either a shade made from bamboo or other natural material (darker tone), or a nice Roman shade out of a classic fabric like linen (white or sand). You don’t want a square, open “hole” that detracts from the rest of the design around it! Other than that, your kitchen is coming together beautifully and I think you did a great job! The pendants look terrific!

Keep in mind, when you are doing a remodel… It’s best not to judge everything until all components are in place. Kind of like when you’re doing your makeup. If you were to just apply foundation and blush but forget your eyebrows, eyelashes, and lips you would think your make up looked subpar lol! Put all the components together and then judge from there. I have experienced that: doing a remodel and as things are getting installed, second-guessing myself. But once everything came together, it worked and I panicked for nothing!

I think your backsplash is unique and stunning. It’s not busy at all. I understand your dilemma around pendants - I’m not great at “scale” either. But using wicker is an excellent idea to add texture to the room. I hope you love your kitchen - it’s fabulous.
