I like porcelain tile in a hallway. Porcelain is sturdy, water resistant and easy to clean. I had Italian porcelain wood look tiles installed in my entry hall and had my new oak stairs stained to match the flooring. Maybe a light marble look porcelain tile would look good in your hall.

Hi Everyone! Thanks so much for your feedback. I was considering a herringbone wood design sort of like this for entry foyer through hallway until kitchen starts. Here’s another view of the hallway. Will this pattern look good?

I would do either Chevron or Herringbone in wood with 1/4" brass inlays.

Cost will depend on how much brass is in your area. How many linear feet is involved and cost of shipping the brass. Ideally, you will want to install it around the perimeter of the foyer. You do not need to do much with brass. It is a elegant feature on it's own. If, your installer installs medallions, they should have all the correct tools to perform the installation. Depending on the design, You can figure $100 - $150 per hour for labor.

Just checking about priority, whether this is first. It looks fine, and the flooring nearby starts in a 'good place.' What about gallery of art with wood frames on empty walls, if there's art to come anyway?

Hi Everyone! Here’s an update, we are considering the herringbone design in foyer and hallway leading upto kitchen. Do you think that would look nice or do you like straight plank better? If we were to do brass inlay, do you know if it’s possible on unfinished flooring? We are sanding and staining on site. Thank you!

You can sand solid brass, it is soft. It's not like stainless steel. It needs to be cleaned very well. No metal dust left behind. Brass plated metal cannot be sanded. You cannot sand fake stuff. Tell hime to get solid brass.
