Love your floors, they look great, but they make your walnut-look cabinets look fake and (lacking a better word) cheap. Maybe it looks better in person, but if it did, you probably would not have started this post.

I'd replace the doors. These don't work with your floor choice.

What if you went with a shaker look in black or a dark navy blue? That would make the cabinets "different" than the kitchen, but they'd still work with your floors. Check out Semihandmade. They specialize in door/drawer fronts for IKEA kitchens.

Black or gray could work on the door fronts, but since it's already done, wait until everything else is completed before you decide what to do. What does your dining table look like? If you will have a rectangular table and upholstered chairs sitting where the paper is, parallel to the cabinets, it will block a lot of the cabinet fronts. Or if you have another different wood finish on your dining set, you'll probably want to get rid of the wood look on the cabinets.

What kind of simple doors will you suggest to go with if we do decide to swap them with?

Our dinning will be as follow:

1. Wooden rectangular dinning table most probably walnut color something mid century modern or live edge.

2. Matching wood chair with upholstery

3. A pendant light in middle.

I'd use a solid color - no wood texture. You could use white, any shade of gray, or black to stay nuetral. I'd stick to lighter colors since you're putting a walnut table and chairs in front of it. If this opens to your living area, you could also choose a solid color that coordinates with colors of your other furnishings - blue, green, camel, etc.

Look up IKEA door hack before you replace the doors. There are many quite good looking DIY changes. And if it fails, then go back to plan B, change the doors.

As others have said the real wood doesn’t work well with the fake wood. I would use the matte white slab doors and get great hardware (brushed brass?) I would also switch out the legs for a black plinth or even just let the cabinet sit on the floor (1/2” blocks maybe) which will make it look less like cabinets and the top would be at dining table height.

Yes the fake wood looks ugly in front of the grain pattern and the beauty of real wood. We will be going with a solid color. Although since our adjacent kitchen cabinets are white we wanted to avoid white so that this does not look like kitchen overflowing in dinning area. Black door front seems like a bold move for us design challenged people. So probably some shade of grey will do? The issue is that the countertop is Ikea Concrete Effect countertop which has greyish/concrete looks so what shade of grey will be a good choice to go with it, if any?

I only suggested white since it’s readily available and fairly inexpensive. You have a lot of decisions still to make- the white slab door will hold you over and be a good base for a more interesting color later. If you want grey it needs to be the same tone as your concrete look counter and either lighter or darker.

Black would also look fine if you want to avoid white. It will give you some contrast with your gray countertop and is still a neutral color that won't clash with anything else in your space.

Get some black poster board and tape to doors to get an idea how black would look. Good luck.

Personally I would get everything in and live with it before spending the money to change it right now but if you can't live with it here are some visuals of black and white
