I bought some pigsqueak to micin my shade gardens, should do well ve never grorwn it before but serm to take similar conditions as ligularia and lungwort which im having to divide everu two years

Bergenia or pigsqueak is late winter candy for the deer in my area. I had a large group at the edge of a hosta bed that would get completely eaten each March. It's a nice plant but I don't spray in March so I had to rip it out since it never survived it's annual deer mowing. Love all the colors that you bought Debra. I have a bunch of different astilbe in the yard, they do well and do add color. I also have beds of daylilies (in the sunny areas) they are just starting to bloom. We plant a lot of pots with annuals and then just move them around if they aren't doing well or if we think that will look better in a different spot. I have heuchera in a bed that gets more sun that are doing well--hostas tend to fry in that bed. I really like the lime green heuchera and am still looking for a bright red leaf one that I saw in a publication several years ago. For some reason, there were a lot less varieties for sale in my area this year--the nurseries said that they got less stock due to an overwhelming demand at the growers.

Miles, I also Want a red Huechera, but couldn’t find any. I would have bought another lime green one but there was only one.

Cherry Truffles huechera, with Black Cherry supertunia. i saw it at Rural King this spring - not a place i usually plant shop, but this is a nice red so i put it in the cart. It’s in a pot now but will go in the ground in September.

Cherry Truffles looks good quite a lovely color. I am looking for Cherry Cola or Coca Cola which are bright red. I've seen Fire Alarm but it is a lighter orange, pretty but not exactly what I want.

Cherry Truffles looks great. Heuchera don't live long for me in my clay soil and the red ones are the worst. Although, they've been getting better, or I'm left with the tougher ones that survive better or I'm growing them better, I don't know. I like them too much to be without and I've found a grower that sells them for ~$4 in 4" pots so I go early and get the quantity discount. Seems like a fair selection and always some new ones every year. Carnival Watermelon does the best for me and it hasn't died on me in the 4 or 5 years that I've had it (yet).

OK, so I decided to go out and take pics of all my Heuchera and I'm doing much better with them than I thought. I took pics of 49 Heuchera (Don't worry, I won't show them all here). Only 6 of them are struggling and most of those are under the Maple trees or I spent more money on them. (Like ~$18 on a 2 gallon pot like Champagne).

And its still alive after 3 years so there's that. I've actually only had a few die on me the last few years since I stopped buying the ones from Terra Nova. I've even moved some of them out of the shadow of nearby plants, but there are still plenty lurking. Carnival Watermelon
