Interior Define vs. West Elm sectional

Hi!

Hoping to get some guidance here...

I'm struggling to decide between the West Elm Harris sectional and the Interior Define Sloan for my new apartment. I'd get either one in navy performance velvet. Does anyone have either one who can help!?

Thanks!!

Impossible to give advice without room measurements and some rough sketch of space. Post photos of proposed furniture so we are sure of selections.

The top is the harris, bottom the sloan. does anyone own either one who can provide insight on durability etc?

Lots of reviews on the sloan. The first couple of pages praise it, however as you get closer to page 16...beware.

I've not heard of Interior Define. I have two pieces of furniture from West Elm-a bedside table and a small cabinet-quality seems alright. I had to fix how a drawer opened/closed. I've gotten upholstered furniture (couch and two chairs in 2015) from Room and Board and last year, the Jennings metal bed too. I'd say their quality is better and customer service/delivery is top notch.

I don't have any true guidance on West Elm although I've heard that their quality can be questionable and since they don't have reviews on their website you do have to dig around and find forums like this. I am glad to see they finally added more performance fabric options to their customizable pieces.

As far as Interior Define though I want to get it out there that the performance plush velvet scratches!! We’ve had our sofa for exactly one week (after waiting six months which was longer than their 18-22 weeks they said initially) and our cat who has simply run across it has caused deep gouges all over it that I don’t foresee a remedy for. This fabric is touted as kid and pet friendly! Even though a cat might be deterred to intentionally scratch this type of fabric it is still delicate.

We ordered the Tatum sectional with the down alternative fill - which you'll find lots of complaints about the regular down fill and the slouching. I will say it does feel substantial and overall good quality. The cushions are very heavy and so I'm hoping will keep their shape.

In my research I haven’t come across anyone talking about this fabric issue. After this much waiting and $5K it’s pretty depressing.

INTERIOR DEFINE IS A SCAM! Do NOT do business with Interior Define! They are a scam company. My best friend ordered a $2400 sofa last May. He has not gotten the sofa nor, beyond a 15% refund, has Interior Define refunded his money. Interior Define kept on moving the date of delivery further out than the 12 - 16 weeks promised. That's right, 4 months for the original delivery date. The know that past 6 months few if any banks would reverse the charges. This gives consumers a small window to take action and few people do it. Now, Interior Define is "supposedly" under new ownership. They "supposedly" liquidated their assets and every customer who ordered a sofa before December 2022 is screwed. There is no action to take. Still, I would take Interior Define to small claims court and raise hell with your bank or credit card company to reverse the charges. Do NOT give up the fight. INTERIOR DEFINE IS A SCAM!
