Should I choose 48 or 42 vanity for a 52 opening

Hi,

Our current master bedroom has two vanities, the one outside is 52 inches, and one inside is 30 inches wide. We are replacing all the vanities.

For the larger opening, should we replace with a 48 inch or 42inch wide vanity? 48 will leave 2 inches on each side which maybe difficult to clean and 42 will leave 5 on each side but I cannot imagine what we could use the space for. It will be useless either way I think.

Any suggestions please? We don’t want to go with custom made as it is very expensive. Thank you!
