Privacy Hedge in LA

Hello everyone,

I need some help here. our neighbor built a second floor overlooking our pool and i am currently trying to plant a privacy hedge. We live in LA California. we are Looking for something evergreen, pest resistant, fast growing and with noninvasive root system as we have concrete pool deck. we hope to have a hedge around 25-30 feet tall. We have been trying to decide between the following trees:

- Carolina cherry: we love that it is fast growing but worry it might not be able to reach 30 ft high as a hedge. We also read that the berries can be messy and toxic.

- Podocarpus garcillior: we love that it is clean and low maintenance without any fruits. We are concerned because we believe it is slow growing and it will take a long time to form of privacy hedge. we also heard it might end up breaking the concrete at some point.

- Eugenia myrtifolia (brush cherry): we like how it looks. We worry that it is prone to pests. were not sure if he can reach 30 ft high as a hedge. We also heard that the roots can be a problem.

We would love to hear your input and experience with any of the above trees or any other suggestions you think might be a better fit. thanks much
