Not a plant I’ve ever seen in person, but compare with Ambrosia artemisifolia.

Thank you Flo, but I don't see any resemblance to rag weed. When I pulled on the plant, it had the deep roots of a perennial, not annual.

I haven't seen any other examples of it in the area so it maybe isn't very common. It is occupying a very harsh sunny location.

Ambrosia artemisiifolia seedheads. I see them in crowded clumps like this one quite often. At first I thought Lepidium, and then I noticed the leaves after floral called it.

Yes-there are a couple of occasional rag weeds in there, if you look very hard.

Yes, I was drawing a blank on the name but it is a Lepidium.

Looks reasonably attractive to me too. I let a couple of attractive-enough "weeds" grow in my flowers beds -- don't know about you but for me it's too much trouble to keep every dang one out anyway. The common "ugly"/allergic (ragweed)/pest-weeds I do pull.

I was thinking peppergrass too, but it's so hard to tell from the photos. The closeup is too blurry to make out any detail of the seedheads.

If it is peppergrass, it's very healthy looking.

Sorry. I was going by the ferny divided leaves I could see. The seed heads are out of focus so I couldn't see any detail.

I use these in bouquets a lot. they make a pretty filler.

I have a new 20M Pixel camera so why should the seed heads be out of focus?

I guess I need to re-read the manual.

I did try to get pics of the basal leaves, but not too well.

Lots of megapixels don't prevent things from being out of focus. Try making sure the camera's very steady, and wait to press the button until the image is in focus, or if there's an indicator in the viewfinder, it should turn green. Sometimes all you need to do is back up a bit, then crop the image later.

And always take more than just one photo. I always have a bit of a hard time judging how good a photo came out until I see it on my computer screen.

I'm leaning more toward Lepidium densiflorum, Green Flowered peppergrass as it is more likely to be found in my area. Plus, the photos from the Mn Wildflower site are more closely related.
