Laundry Area Dilemma

Just starting a refresh of laundry area; so, far from done. I made sink skirt from cotton ticking fabric. Then sponge-painted the backsplash but the colours clash. How can I tie the two colours together? Should I dye the skirt or try to re-do the backsplash? Looking for a simple solution. lol. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.
