Help! Does this backsplash compliment my kitchen?

We want to update and lighten the look of our kitchen without changing the countertops. Do you think this backsplash would look good?

Too small, too white, too "bathroom" too busy. Sorry..no You'rr sure you want to do this when perhaps you don't love the granite? Just asking.

If you love the granite? A soft white larger subway 2 x 10, even 4 x 12......keep it simple if the goal is to be rid of the picture frame concept.

Do not attempt just the framed area..........a total re do or leave it alone.

Show the entire kitchen ,....the splash you have IS light , perhaps the issue IS lighting and more of it: )

It looks like bathroom tile to me also. I agree to go for a larger size subway tile, nice and simple❣️

Thank you so much for that image and all of your help. I’ll get a solid subway tile. Do you think this laid in a herringbone pattern would be too busy?

The color of your current backsplash goes better with your countertops than that white subway tile.

A warm creamy white might be better with your granite.

A really warm white : ) Not icy white, too white in your pic

Truly..........the BEST advice if you like all else about the kitchen? Change the tops, all of them and free yourself from the granite. No ,......you won't like that advice, Neither will a lot of folks here on Houzz. But often? You just end up "spending" your way to a result you get after even a failure or two, a costly pecking at an issue, on the very roundabout route to whatever you may love for a long time.

Start a piggy bank : ??? Especially if the house is new to you.

Basically, there is a reason that granite has a tumbled stone tile. ...most of the good pairings were that , in 1995 - 2005 ish : )

This one has a little more cream/beige to it. Do you like it? I do not love the granite. We want to update and remove the gold/rust colors from the backsplash to sell in the next six months. We want to replace all granite, if we can avoid it. Thanks for your help!

*do not want to replace granite

If you plan to sell just leave it. I don’t think a backsplash is changing the offers you get by much.

Leave the whole thing alone. Nobody else want the granite or the splash : ) Let it be someone else's problem. Their money too. It won't impact a sale, that much is certain.

Or........you get lucky and someone loooooves THE WHOLE THING. Don't second guess. : )

Thank you guys! I really appreciate all of your help!

Agree...don't put any money into it if you plan to sell. I can almost guarantee a buyer will change whatever you choose. There's no way a backsplash will impact a sale.

Agree with Jan. Don’t spend the money. Someone will either like the whole thing or plan to gut it. Either way, they will perceive your current design as “move in ready” so you don’t need to update it further.

The small hexagon tile seems to be too small for your kitchen, and if you are selling we might just leave it. Here are some of our designs that might show you what we have done for plenty of clients.

If I were buying and I saw your kitchen as it is, I would love it. I would not love it if you changed it with the options you presented. I don't necessary like your granite, but it's better, for me, than the all white and gray everyone has done for the past 2 decades or so. I don't like the look of white/gray. I seem to be the only one though. I like the browns, greens, woods. And I don't have an issue with it being "dark". I like the dark :) And I like your present backsplash. It adds character. The "design" these days seems to be lacking in any charm or detail. Just flat, no trim, no personality. Which then leads to many asking Houzz what's missing in my kitchen, it seems uninviting.
