I say go for the espresso stain and you'll have at least enjoyed that when you're selling in 5 years or so. One never knows what will be the fashion then and a gorgeous kitchen is a gorgeous kitchen. I find that hardware and frilly things date faster than a kitchen colour.

I agree,go for the dark expresso, it will look great! If its something you both like, why not?

I have white cabinets in the kitchen with an espresso island. Keeping the white clean is much easier than the dark wood. I'm constantly wiping smudges and greasy fingerprints from our island but I like the look. Just something to keep in mind. Also, Espresso WILL go out of style eventually just like the blonde wood from the 60's, the dark oak of the 70's and the honey oak from the 90's. White is classic and will never go out of style.
